Sources reported that following heavy rains, the affected road has developed muddy patches and deep pits, leaving several villages in the area cut off from external connectivity and vehicles, from small motorcycles to large trucks, unable to inch forward without risking a slide off.

Villages Affected, Lives In Distress

Reports stated that the road connects more than five villages across two panchayats, whose residents rely on it to reach medical facilities, colleges, block and tehsil offices, and the main Koida market.

Locals report that the movement has become extremely difficult, with mud and potholes making travel slow and hazardous.

“We are dependent on Koida for everything. The situation becomes unbearable when we have to carry pregnant women on cots since ambulances cannot reach here. The main market is also in Koida, and this road is our only means of transport,” said an elderly local.

Mining Vehicles Contribute to Road Damage

Sources reported that the affected road is also used by two major mining companies transporting heavy equipment. Villagers noted that heavy vehicles moving on the already damaged road have worsened the potholes, creating additional mud and uneven surfaces, which further impede daily commutes.

Residents alleged that the road has not been repaired despite the onset of the monsoon season, and repeated rainfall has exacerbated the damage.

Attempts to contact departmental officials regarding the road condition have so far yielded no response.
